Armstrong's series is a Jacobean tragedy conducted in private aviation lounges. What it understands better than any drama of its decade is that real money does not shout: the Roys wear unbranded knitwear, drink nothing memorable, and destroy each other in complete sentences.
It is also very funny, and the funniest lines are always the cruellest. Tuscany, in season three, is the most beautiful hour of television the show produced.
